Residents value its established single-family neighbourhoods, the newer communities of Champlain Heights and Fraserlands, and the busy commercial areas that provide convenient local shopping. The area’s two community centres and many parks are heavily used by residents. Many of our neighbourhoods have unique local identities and a strong sense of community.

Extra shelter spaces opening for homeless people in Vancouver

Those seeking shelter will have access to 300 shelter beds when the B.C. government and the City of Vancouver open beds at 10 locations throughout the city for people who are homeless. This is an increase from 160 beds provided last year. All shelters will be low barrier and welcoming to people with pets and belongings to store. Each location will be managed by an experienced non-profit housing and shelter operator, with most providing 24/7 support.

New online application speeds up service for landlords and tenants

A new online application to file for dispute resolution will make it easier and faster for B.C.tenants and landlords to resolve tenancy issues.

Recently launched by the Residential Tenancy Branch, the redesigned application will guide the applicant through the process to make sure they are providing the right information. This will help avoid adjournments and dismissals due to incomplete or incorrect applications.

Province steps up with modular housing for the homeless

People will soon have access to safe, affordable housing thanks to a provincewide program to help municipalities tackle homelessness. The program will provide hundreds of new modular housing units in communities from Vancouver to Surrey to Smithers, Premier John Horgan announced today.

“People can’t begin to feel safe and secure until they have a place to call home,” said Horgan. “We’re partnering with local governments to help those who don’t have a home, to help them live in dignity and give them a chance at a better life.”
